Extend a helping hand to those in need this holiday season.
Sanyukai, a long-established shelter for homeless men and a longtime beneficiary of Connections, is accepting donations of food and household goods to benefit one of Tokyo’s overlooked communities.
Contributions of instant and regular rice, dried seaweed, canned food, pickled umeboshi plums, dried furikake seasoning and individually packed snacks will help the nonprofit organization feed those in need (items should be unopened and within their expiration date).
Also accepted are new towels, new socks, detergent, soap and other daily necessities. Business clothing donations will go towards supporting refugees in their job hunting activities. Secondhand clothing and footwear cannot be accepted. Donations must be dropped off in plastic bags or boxes.
Those wishing to drop off a donation before November 15 should contact the Connections Office to arrange a date and time.
